Lawsuits & Claims

What you need to know before filing a lawsuit

1. Spot the Problem

Review your bank statements regularly. Look out for overdraft charges, maintenance fees, or foreign transaction fees you didn’t expect or authorize.

2. Know Your Rights

Banks are required to clearly disclose fees. Hidden or unclear fees may violate consumer protection laws in your country.

3. Gather Evidence

Take screenshots or download statements showing the charges. Note the dates and amounts.

4. Contact the Bank First

Call or write to your bank's support. Stay polite but firm. Ask them to reverse the fee and explain why it was applied.

5. Escalate the ComplaintIf

the bank refuses to help, file a formal complaint through:

  • Your national financial regulator
  • A consumer protection agency
  • An online legal tool or complaint generator

6. Consider a Legal Route

If the fee is large or repeated, you may be able to file a small claims case — often without a lawyer.
